The IAI REX is an Unmanned Infantry Combat Support System (UICSS) developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) with ELTA Systems. This unique battlefield solution is marketed to the land defense sector allowing for remote or autonomous operation - independently or alongside - ground-based infantry. In urban environments, the addition of unmanned, 'expendable' elements become a critical advantage in any operation.

IAI produces a complete lineup of Unmanned Autonomous Ground Combat Systems including satisfying a variety of battlefield roles including route clearance, combat engineering, logistics support, and general protection.

Unlike the other systems being marketed by the company, the REX takes on a 4x4 wheeled configuration. The wheels are set at the absolute corners of the frame, giving the vehicle excellent balance over uneven terrain. It supports a payload of up to 1.25 tons and is powered through a hybrid electric system giving it a range out to 300 kilometers. Full-automation can also be had, allowing the machine to operate beyond Line-of-Sight (LoS) from the ground controller. Dimensions and operating weight are such that the complete, ready-to-use system can be air-transported under the belly of a Boeing CH-47F Chinook tandem-rotor medium-lift transport helicopter or the Boeing MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor. This gives the vehicle transportability with fixed solutions such as the Lockheed C-130 Hercules / Super Hercules and Airbus A400M.

REX is designed to be as modular as possible, in turn fulfilling the broadest mission scope possible, allowing it to handle such diverse battlefield roles as direct-contact (in support of accompanying troops), general logistical support, MEDEVAC, and tactical-level Intelligence-Surveillance-Reconnaissance (ISR) sorties. A remote turret is seated over the front of the frame, fitting a 7.62mm machine. The traversing nature of the weapon gives it enhanced angles of fire in which the unit can lead ahead of the troop company, 'clearing a path' of hostiles or suppressing enemy positions. Over the rear of the frame can be stowed mission equipment.
