Turkish Land Forces have adopted an indigenous NATO-compliant bolt-action sniper rifle as the JNG-90 "Bora" series by MKEK (translated to "Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation"). Design work spanned from 2004 to 2008 and revealed a useful design chambered for the standard 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge. The weapon is fed through a 10-round magazine through a manually-actuated bolt-action arrangement with sighting through various supported optics set over the receiver. The rifle functions in the traditional sniper role with the Turkish military, engaging targets at range with a high-kill probability afforded by the large rifle cartridge. Effective range reaches out to 1,000 meters with a muzzle velocity around 860 meters per second. The buttstock is adjustable to an extent for customization by the shooter. As with most other modern precision weapons, the JNG-90 is provided with sections of Picatinny rail for adding accessories (including the sight mount as well as the at the forend of the stock).

Beyond its adoption by the Turkish Land Forces, the JNG-90 has been taken on by the military of Azerbaijan - the only known foreign operator of this Turkish design.
