JW Grom Special Forces Weapons (Poland)

Special Forces | Arms & Equipment

The JW GROM special forces of Poland are equivalent in operational scope to the American Navy SEALs and are also modeled after British SAS and U.S. Delta Force.

Established on July 13th, 1990, JW GROM is the premiere elite counter-terrorism organization of the nation of Poland. The group is the equivalent, in both mission scope and operational commitment, to the United States Navy SEALs (while also being influenced by British SAS and American DELTA Force) and is charged with undertaking various roles including, but not limited to, direct-action and unconventional warfare. This type of deep mission set, therefore, requires a particular set of tools and a broad selection of weapons are used by the teams. The JW GROM name is an homage to the 'Silent Unseen' Polish special forces warriors of World War 2 (1939-1945). The group is also known as Jednostka Wojskowa 2305 ('Military Unit 2305').

Since its inception, the force has taken part in high- and low-profile operations including Operation Uphold Democracy (Haiti), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq). The teams have also been used to recover war criminals, particularly in the fallout of the Bosnian Wars of the 1990s. The group currently (2017) operates in the Afghanistan Theater where its talents are put to the test daily against insurgents.
